This cold and dreary November day makes me want to go back to last summer’s favorite outdoor session. . .
When my dear friend and uber-talented makeup artist, Ren Allen, told me she was preparing a special outdoor spot at her Jonesborough, Tennessee home for photoshoots earlier this year, I was intrigued. Ren is an avid gardener and her cottage dwelling in Tennessee’s oldest town is like a secret oasis hidden in plain sight right on Main Street. I had already admired the flowers and plants in her front yard every time I drove by. Then, I found out she was setting up an antique clawfoot tub with the idea of using it for outdoor photoshoots! After a tour of the property last spring, I was inspired to try something new and different. I enlisted the help of another good friend to model for a test session. The results were out of this world!
In addition to the gardens, woods, and the covered clawfoot tub, Ren’s property also boasts an adorable tiny house. It provides a convenient onsite spot for hair and makeup styling and a changing space for photoshoot clients. Having access to the tiny house definitely helped make the experience a little less “rustic” for my model! For those who are a bit more adventurous and don’t mind dealing with variables in temperature and humidity (and the occasional mosquito), an outdoor boudoir photoshoot can be an exhilarating experience!
P.S. Also, I HIGHLY recommend the portable Thermacell line of products for a natural mosquito repellent option when bug sprays don’t seem to be doing the trick at your outdoor photoshoot.
